Darrel Alize

Darrel Alize Murray is one of the most loved DJs in the city of Toronto. He’s a regular fixture at the wildly popular Saturday night that he and his partner DJ X pioneered at Milano. He’s spent 3 years on the radio mixing all the hottest hip-hop and R&B on CKLN’s Power Move Show, and was the youngest DJ at age 18 on WBLK’s Advanced Remix Show. As well, he also played and produced “ Live at the BBQ” on the Internet every Friday night.

Darrel first began to DJ at the age of 13 and continued to hone his skills for several years before playing out in public. He has been playing professionally for over 9 years and has played all across Canada, in New York and Los Angeles at shows, dances, concerts, clubs and parties. He has played at hundreds of clubs in Toronto alone and has opened up for artists such as Crazy Legs, The Rascalz, Bennie Man, Sporty Thieves, Camp Lo and Shaggy.

Darrel style is, smooth with quick cuts and perfectly timed yet seemingly effortless scratches. While he specializes in Hip-Hop and R&B, he is just as well respected playing Reggae, House, Slow Jams, and Old Skool. He prides himself not so much on the music he plays but on his ability to play the exact tune the crowd wants to hear at just the right time. His moniker alone stands as a testament to his mastery of his music and his crowd. The name “Alize” was grudgingly given to him by fellow DJs who could not deny his butter smooth mixing style or his reputation for packing up any and every dance floor.

While Alize continues to amaze and impress behind the turntables, the most impressive part about him is that in this industry where bravado and attitude reign supreme, Darrel always takes the time to get to know his supporters.
