DJ Sparx has been involved in the Bay Area, California music scene for over sixteen years. She started as a professional hip-hop dancer/choreographer/B-girl – danced for Spanish Fly, Nature by Nature, original member of Jedi Clan, now known as Mindtricks, just to name a few. She became a DJ in 2003, spinning at such clubs such as; 1015 Folsom, Loft 11, Roe, San Francisco Regency Center, Club Whisper, etc., as well as at private events. She gained tremendous experience and skills with playing the piano for 13-14 years. In her early years, she was also in an orchestra band and a prestigious jazz band playing the drums and keyboard/piano. Sparx was exposed to music/shows/performances/concerts/etc. since she was a young child.

Sparx presently holds a regular spot at The Temple Lounge (monthly) in San Jose and at 222 Club in San Francisco (rotating). She’s also part of 3-Style Attractions DJ crew (3styleattractions.com) and Pleasurezone (www.pleasurezonesf.com). Little Brown Girl and Ionechs clothing line sponsor Sparx, to name a few.

DJ Sparx keeps her taste diverse, ranging from old’skool and underground hip-hop, breaks, 70’s funk, 80’s, 90’s, rock, house, reggae, reggaeton, R&B, dancehall and beyond. She grew up listening to many different forms of music that all influenced her today and in time her musical tastes just kept expanding. Music has always been a huge part of her life and will continue to inspire her and hopefully move those around her.

Music has been a tool for Sparx all throughout her life - spreading the message “We’re all equal. There is nothing like looking over a dance floor and watching people who are completely different yet in this moment blissfully united and spreading positivity. Her love of music is reflected in her audience and enjoys seeing a full dance floor, knowing that she has succeeded as a DJ.
